Questions & stuff.

probably yours too
Is it actually free?+
Yep. Three uploads in the free pack — no card, no monthly fee. Buy a pack of 100 or 1000 when you need more. Uses never expire.
What file types work?+
PDFs — but *any* PDF. Typed, scanned, or photographed: if the pages have no text layer, we read them visually (OCR). Slides or documents? Export them as PDF and you're in.
What language does it work in?+
The language of your notes. Upload an Afrikaans PDF, get an Afrikaans quiz — same for English. Summaries have a one-tap ENG/AFR toggle too.
Do you train on my uploads?+
No — your documents are never used to train AI models. One thing to know: StudyBuddy is built for sharing, so every upload gets a public test page (without your name on it), and two people who upload the same document share the same generated questions. Don't upload anything private.
How accurate are the questions?+
They're generated by a state-of-the-art AI model reading your actual document — very good, not perfect. If a question looks off, hit "Generate new set" and you'll get a fresh batch.
Can my school use it?+
Yes. Every test is a shareable link — nothing to install, and nobody needs an account just to take one. Teachers: a pack of 100 uploads covers a whole class for $9.

"Studying shouldn't feel like punishment. It should feel like the 45 minutes before your friend gets to the coffee shop — quick, focused, a little fun."

WHAT · 01

What it is.

StudyBuddy is a study app that turns any PDF you upload — the textbook chapter, the class notes, the study guide — into seven ways of learning it. Verbatim. Quiz. Flashcards. Summary. Key terms. True/false. Match.

We built it because every other study app makes you make the flashcards yourself. Which is, uh, the hard part. We flipped that: you hand us the material, we hand you the practice.

WHY · 02

Why it matters.

Because re-reading doesn't work. Active recall does. And nobody has time to build perfect flashcards at 1am before a test.

7

Ways to learn one PDF

Quiz, flashcards, summary, key terms, true/false, match — plus the original text, cleaned up and readable.

From PDF to practice

Drop the chapter, get a study set in about a minute. No more "I'll make flashcards tomorrow."

2

Languages, zero setup

English in, English out. Afrikaans in, Afrikaans out. Your test speaks the language of your notes.

HOW · 03

How it works.

You upload. We read. You pick a mode. We generate. You study.

Under the hood, StudyBuddy reads your PDF — even scanned or photographed pages — pulls out the key concepts, and generates questions, cards and summaries from what's actually on the page, in the language it was written in.

Upload the same document as a classmate and you get the same test — generated once, shared by everyone studying the same material. If a set misses the mark, one click regenerates it.

WHO · 04 — the most important part

Who built it.

A dad and his two daughters who got tired of making practice tests by hand.

A

Alan

Dad · vibe-code

Spent years reading Olivia's schoolwork and writing out practice tests by hand. With an actual pen. Eventually decided the computer should do the boring bit so he could keep the fun bit: watching the marks go up.

O

Olivia

Grade 8 · vibe-growth

The original user. Every feature in this app exists because she had a test coming up and needed it to exist. Chief complainer, chief idea machine, first to spot when something looks "a bit off".

N

Neve

Grade 6 · vibe-support

Quality assurance department. Nothing ships until it survives her clicking every button in the wrong order. Also in charge of morale.

a note from the three of us

This started with a pen. Since about Grade 4, Olivia would hand her schoolwork over before every test, and Dad would read it and write out a fresh practice test by hand — new questions, same material. She'd work through it, and by the time the real test arrived it felt like a rerun.

Around Grade 6 we got smarter about it: photograph the worksheets, upload them to an AI model, let it write the practice tests. Better — but still a lot of fiddling.

Now Olivia's in Grade 8 and everything she does at school exports as a PDF. So we did the obvious thing: we built the app. Then the logo. Then the marketing page. Then all the testing and iterating and arguing about sticker colours. It turns out "building an app" is about 10% app.

Everything you see here is solving a very real problem for one very specific student — and along the way, two students are learning how software actually gets made.
